Ghana Skills Development Fund to boost workforce and economic competitiveness- Dr. Kyei Asamoah

Dr. Fred Kyei Asamoah, the Executive Director of the Council for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (COTVET), has highlighted the significance of the Ghana Skills Development Fund (GSDF) in addressing the skills and technological needs of enterprises in both the formal and informal sectors of Ghana’s economy.

According to Dr. Asamoah, the GSDF is a key component of the government’s Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Policy.

Its primary objective is to enhance the productivity and competitiveness of the skilled workforce while improving the income-earning capabilities of individuals, particularly women and those from low-income groups.

This is achieved through the provision of high-quality, industry-focused, and competency-based training programs, as well as complementary services.

The official launch of the GSDF is scheduled for Monday, July 17, 2023, at the UPSA-Auditorium.

Dr. Asamoah emphasized that the fund will primarily benefit micro and small enterprises, supporting their growth initiatives to generate more jobs and increase productivity in both the formal and informal sectors of the economy.
