The Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) has taken proactive measures to address congestion issues in the Central Business District (CBD) and enhance the flow of vehicles and pedestrians.

This initiative is part of the “Operation Clean Your Frontage” campaign, which aims to make Accra one of the cleanest cities in the region.

The decongestion exercise is being carried out in collaboration with other sister assemblies.

Under the leadership of the Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE) of the AMA, Elizabeth Kwatsoe Sackey, the decongestion exercise was launched on Monday.

MCE Sackey personally engaged with traders at Circle, emphasizing the importance of the exercise and urging their cooperation.

She highlighted that selling goods on pavements not only obstructs pedestrian movement but also poses risks to the safety of the traders themselves.
