We will stop government from giving T.O.R to Torentco- Minority

The Minority, represented by John Abdulai Jinapoh, the ranking member on the Mines and Energy Committee and MP for Yapei/Kusawgu, has raised concerns regarding the government’s decision to hand over the Tema Oil Refinery (TOR) to TORENTCO as part of the privatization process.

He cautioned the government against proceeding with the agreement, stating that TORENTCO lacks the necessary experience, expertise, and financial resources to effectively manage such a significant state asset.

According to Jinapoh, it is crucial for the government to engage in further consultations and seek out a qualified and strategic company that possesses the required capabilities to handle the TOR.

He emphasized the need for thorough consideration and scrutiny before finalizing any agreement, urging the government to prioritize the selection of a competent entity for such a critical endeavor.

He emphasized the importance of selecting a capable partner who can effectively contribute to the development and success of the refinery, rather than risking potential setbacks or mismanagement.
