Rt. Hon. Speaker, Alban Bagbin has instructed the appointments Committee of Parliament to promptly carry out the vetting process for the deputy Special Prosecutor, Mrs. Cynthia Lamptey, following her reappointment to the Office.

He emphasized that the Special Prosecutor’s Office is currently understaffed, and any further delays by the committee would adversely impact the functioning of the office.

This directive came after the Speaker read an official Communication from the Presidency, which outlined the appointment of Mrs. Cynthia Lamptey, based on the recommendation of the Attorney General.

Alban Bagbin also provided some indications regarding the timing of the midyear budget review to be presented by the finance minister, Ken Ofori Atta.

He stated that although the original date was scheduled for July 27th, unforeseen circumstances necessitated a change in the timeline.
