The General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Justin Kodua Frimpong, is urging all ten flagbearer aspirants to exercise restraint and maintain good etiquettes throughout their campaigns.
He emphasized the importance of unity within the party, particularly with the aim of “Breaking the 8” in the upcoming elections.
Justin Frimpong Kodua advised the aspirants and their supporters to prioritize the party’s interests above personal ambitions and to conduct their campaigns in a measured and respectful manner.
His comments come after the vetting committee released its report, clearing all ten aspirants to participate in the flagbearer elections.
The committee recommended their eligibility, pending approval from the National Council. The aspirants include Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, Kwadwo Poku, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Boakye Kyerematen Agyarko, Kwabena Agyei Agyapong, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, Dr. Kofi Konadu Apraku, Dr. Owusu Akoto Afriyie, Joe Ghartey, and Francis Addai-Nimoh.
However, the fate of these aspirants still hangs in the balance, as the National Council is set to deliberate on the Vetting Committee’s recommendations on July 20, 2023.
If approved, the party will proceed with a Super Delegates Congress to reduce the number of candidates to five for the main national congress, where the flagbearer will be elected.
