Kwabena Agyei Agyepong, a flagbearer aspirant for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has expressed his confidence in winning the upcoming primaries despite being seen as an underdog compared to the perceived front-runners.
During his campaign launch, Agyepong stated that Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and former Trade Minister Alan Kyerematen, who are considered to be leading the race, are only in that position due to their current or past positions. He emphasized that being an underdog does not diminish his chances of winning.
Agyepong highlighted the importance of voters understanding the individual policies of the aspirants and making their decisions based on those policies. He believes that the initiatives he has laid out are strong enough to secure his victory.
He called for debates among the aspirants to allow Ghanaians to learn about their policy differences and to defend their records in government. Agyepong expressed confidence in his own plans and emphasized that being a front-runner should not be determined solely by position but by what each candidate stands for.
Kwabena Agyei Agyapong emphasized the importance of downsizing the government as it will not only help to save money, but it will help people know and see the leader as a visionary one and one who knows what he or she is doing.
According to him, people are enjoying government roles more than the works they are supposed to do for the betterment of the country.
“It is important for leaders to lead by example and that is what I have said we cut down the government. I’ll work with 54 ministerial team,” he said.
