IGP expresses concern over negative perception of Police among Ghanaian children

The Inspector General of Police, Dr. George Akufo Dampare, has expressed concern over the negative perception that some Ghanaian children have towards the police.

This was brought to his attention when he visited Sapeiman in the Ga West Municipality of the Greater Accra region and noticed that school children ran away upon seeing him and other police personnel.

Surprised by their reaction, Dr. Dampare decided to engage with the children and took them to school.

This incident, according to him, highlighted the need to address the negative perception and build a better relationship between the police and the community.

To further address this issue, the IGP began visiting various police stations in the Greater Accra Region to assess the quality of service provided to the public.

During these visits, he also held private interactions with the police personnel. The purpose of these visits was to emphasize to the citizens that the police are their friends and to improve the public’s trust and confidence in the police force.
