The residents of Manso Atwere in the Amansie West District of the Ashanti Region are deeply concerned about the presence of numerous piles of waste in their community.
Despite their efforts to draw the government’s attention to this problem before it escalates into a serious health issue, their pleas have gone unanswered. As a result, they are urging the Amansie West District Assembly to provide them with dustbins to promote sanitation in the area.
In addition to the waste problem, the residents are also appealing to the government for assistance in completing a 20-seater toilet facility that was initiated under the Infrastructure for Poverty Eradication Programme (IPEP) as part of the ‘one million dollar per constituency initiative.’
Unfortunately, the facility has been abandoned and is now overgrown with weeds and inhabited by reptiles.
The residents expressed their concerns to a reporter from Otec FM, highlighting the worrisome situation and the potential outbreak of diseases.
They also expressed frustration over the stalled community center project, citing inadequate financial support as the main reason for its incomplete state.
Hon. Amponsah Darko, the Assembly member of the Manso Atwere electoral area, echoed the residents’ concerns and called on the government and other stakeholders to come to their aid.
He emphasized the need to remove the heaps of refuse and complete the abandoned community center and toilet facility for the benefit of the community.
