Today, July 3, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) will initiate the vetting process for its presidential aspirants who are seeking to lead the party in the 2024 general elections.
The aspirants scheduled for vetting today are Alan Kwadwo Kyeremanten, former Minister of Trade; businessman Kwadwo Poku, and Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the current Vice President.
The vetting process will continue on Tuesday, July 4, with the remaining candidates. This includes Boakye Kyeremateng Agyarko, former Energy Minister; Kwabena Agyei Agyepong, a former NPP General Secretary, and Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, the Member of Parliament for Assin Central.
A statement from the Secretary to the National Presidential Vetting Committee, Evans Nimako, outlined that the vetting of the remaining candidates will take place on July 5 and 6.
The NPP announced that it will hold a special congress on August 26. The purpose of this congress is to elect five candidates who will proceed to the primary election scheduled for November 4.
These five candidates will be selected from the pool of presidential aspirants who have successfully gone through the vetting process.
