Jomoro MP expresses concern over uunauthorized dismantling of Osagyefo Power Barge

The unauthorized dismantling of the Osagyefo Power Barge by a private firm named Misak Limited has raised concerns for Dorcas Affo-Toffey, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Jomoro.

The power barge, originally acquired by the Jerry John Rawlings government in 1999, had a capacity of 25 megawatts.

In 2015, the Ministry of Energy instructed the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) to assume ownership of the barge.

However, due to a prolonged legal dispute, the GNPC was unable to perform any maintenance on the barge, leading to its deterioration from corrosion.

Following an update from Deputy Minister of Energy, William Owuraku Aidoo, on the status of the barge, Dorcas Affo-Toffey called for legal action to be taken against Misak Limited.

She also demanded a comprehensive audit into the disposal of the power barge and urged transparency in the sale process.
