ILAPI-GHANA raises concerns over government expenditure misappropriation in Wasteful Spending Report

The Institute for Liberty and Policy Innovation (ILAPI) has expressed concerns regarding the misappropriation of government expenditures, stating that funds are not being utilized for their approved and intended purposes.

In Government Wasteful Spending Report (GWSP) 2022, ILAPI highlights that many government projects experience inflated prices either during the bidding process or during execution.

According to Peter Bismark Kwofie, the Executive Director of ILAPI-GHANA, the report also reveals instances of suspicious receipts being issued, where the prices of products or services rendered do not match the receipts.

Additionally, there are cases where agencies or departments allocate resources to different purposes than what is reported.

To address these issues, ILAPI-GHANA recommends a more strategic allocation of resources, ensuring that governmental entities in need receive sufficient funding while reducing resources allocated to entities that do not require them.
