According to the Minister for Information, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, a total of 88 hospitals out of the proposed 111 hospitals under the “Agenda 111” project are currently under construction.
The project, which was launched by President Akufo-Addo in August 2021, aims to construct 111 hospitals across the country within 18 months.
While some districts have encountered challenges in acquiring land for construction, the government remains confident that all hospitals will be completed before the end of President Akufo-Addo’s second term.
The Minister stated that some hospitals that were lagging behind schedule have been terminated, suggesting a commitment to ensuring timely progress.
Dr. Anthony Nsiah Asare, the Presidential Advisor on health, reassured the public that there is sufficient funding available for the completion of the project.
He also highlighted the potential employment opportunities for nurses and the positive contribution the hospitals will make to Ghana’s overall economic growth once they are completed.
