The Narcotics Control Commission observed World Drug Day in the Ahafo Region under the theme, “People First: Stop Stigma and Discrimination, Strengthen Prevention.”
The Ahafo Regional Commander of the Commission, Mr. Kofi Boateng, emphasized the significance of the celebration in the commission’s history.
Mr. Boateng highlighted the Commission’s strong focus on controlling drugs such as Tramadol, Cocaine, and others.
He acknowledged the prevalence of drug-related issues not only in the Ahafo Region but also in various parts of the country.
During the World Drug Day event held at Ntoroso College, Mr. Boateng specifically mentioned substances like weed, wee toffee, and tramadol as the most commonly abused among the youth in the Ahafo Region.
Hon. Anthony Mensah, the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Asutifi North, urged the youth to prioritize their future and assured them of government support for further education to reduce instances of drug abuse.
