Chew and pour education does not help solve problems- Kofi Agyarko

Mr. Kofi Agyarko, the Director of Renewable Energy Efficiency and Climate Change at the Energy Commission, emphasized the need to incorporate practical and innovative training programs among school children to develop their problem-solving abilities.

He expressed concern that the traditional approach of “chew, pour, pass, and forget” education has hindered the country from producing individuals capable of solving daily challenges, instead fostering dependence on others for solutions.

To address this issue, the Energy Commission has introduced the Senior High School Renewable Energy Challenge, aimed at mentoring children and fostering innovative thinking to solve problems within their immediate environment.

Mr. Agyarko emphasized that the younger generation should not conform to the outdated pattern of passive learning, but rather strive to make a meaningful impact.

These statements were made during the commissioning of the Senior High School Renewable Energy Challenge in Sekondi Takoradi, Western Region.

Mrs. Felicia Agyiebea Okine, the Western Regional Director of Education, urged schools to take the challenge seriously, as it offers numerous opportunities for growth and development.
