8-month pregnant woman dies in Kasoa Opeikuma due to abandoned road gutter

Amina Issifu, an 8-month pregnant woman, tragically lost her life after falling into an abandoned road gutter in Kasoa Opeikuma, located in the Awutu Senya East District of the Central Region.

The Kasoa Opeikuma-Awutu Aprah road construction, which commenced in 2019, remains unfinished due to financial constraints faced by the contractor.

Nana Opei Mensah II, the Chief of Awutu Opeikuma, disclosed that the deceased, Amina Issifu, accidentally fell into the gutter while attempting to climb it to reach her house. Unfortunately, she passed away shortly after being rushed to the hospital.

Nana Opei Mensah appealed to Member of Parliament for Awutu Senya East, Mavis Hawa Koomson, and President Nana Addo to intervene and ensure the completion of the abandoned road, thereby preventing further loss of lives.

Angry residents and drivers who utilize the road expressed their frustrations, stating that they are no longer driving on a road but on a hazardous manhole road.

They conveyed their willingness to apologize to the NPP government if they had unintentionally offended them, highlighting the pressing need for urgent action to address the precarious conditions.
