The Universal Concept Mental Arithmetic System (UCMAS) recently held its national competition and presented awards to the winners of the 2023 edition.
A total of 300 pupils were recognized for their achievements in the competition.
During the 12th edition of the UCMAS and awards ceremony held at the Pentecost Convention Centre in Kasoa, Mr. Girish Gurbani, the Director of Maurya Education, emphasized the positive impact of the competition on the participating pupils.
He mentioned that the competition helped improve their comprehension, listening skills, creativity, and thinking abilities.
Mr. Gurbani further highlighted the important role of parents in providing the right environment for children to reach their full potential.
He emphasized that UCMAS provides a platform to support children’s development.
Roger Ohemeng, the Business Development Director for Maurya Education, emphasized the competition’s goal of empowering children between the ages of 5 to 14 with the valuable skill of mental arithmetic.
He stressed the importance of critical thinking skills in shaping the minds of young individuals and contributing to the development of Ghana.
By fostering critical thinking and mental arithmetic skills, according to him, the UCMAS competition aims to cultivate a generation of young individuals who can positively impact the country’s future growth and development.
