Members of the Reach Arms Foundation, a non-governmental organization, came together on Sunday, June 25, 2023, to extend a helping hand to the inmates of Obuasi Local Prison in the Ashanti region.
Their generous donation, valued at Gh¢10,000, encompassed essential items such as food stuff, medicine, toiletries, and other necessities.
Mr. Amofa Emmanuel, the President of Reach Arms Foundation, expressed the core motivation behind the donation, emphasizing that it was a tangible demonstration of love and care towards the inmates.
He highlighted one of the fundamental objectives of the foundation, which is to assist those in need and bring joy to the lives of the impoverished and marginalized members of society.
“It is important to show love and care to the inmates. Their freedom may be restricted for a period of time, but they are still citizens of this country and will be free someday,’’ he said.
During his interaction with the inmates, Mr. Amofa Emmanuel, the President of Reach Arms Foundation, advised the inmates to maintain a positive outlook on life and to nurture hope for a brighter future even during their time of incarceration.
He emphasized the importance of looking up to God for strength and guidance throughout their journey.
Recognizing the challenges faced by the inmates, Mr. Amofa Emmanuel acknowledged that their present circumstances could be disheartening, however, he urged them not to be discouraged by their current situation but to remain resilient and hopeful.
He reassured them that the Reach Arms Foundation would continue to support and remember them in its activities, demonstrating the organization’s commitment to making a lasting impact in their lives.
DSP Daniel Quaye, expressing gratitude on behalf of the inmates, extended heartfelt appreciation to the Reach Arms Foundation for their generous donation.
He recognized the significance of the items provided, describing them as humanitarian aid that would greatly improve the condition of the inmates.
DSP Daniel Quaye acknowledged the positive impact that the donation would have on the lives of the inmates, emphasizing that it would help meet their basic needs and contribute to their overall well-being.
He also highlighted the importance of such acts of kindness in ameliorating the challenging circumstances faced by the inmates during their time in the Obuasi Local Prison.
