Hassan Ayariga urges Ghanaians to take action against flooding

Dr. Hassan Ayariga, Founder and Leader of the All Peoples Congress (APC), has called on Ghanaians to proactively desilt the gutters in their neighborhoods to prevent flooding.

Speaking to the media in Accra, Dr. Ayariga expressed concern over the recurring issue of flooding in various suburbs across the country. He questioned why even a light drizzle would cause rooms to be flooded.

Highlighting the need for collective action, Dr. Ayariga emphasized the importance of individuals taking responsibility for maintaining clean and clear gutters. By desilting the gutters in their communities, Ghanaians can contribute to preventing flooding and its detrimental effects.

In light of the tragic loss of lives during rainy seasons, Dr. Hassan Ayariga has raised concerns about the preventable nature of such incidents. He passionately called upon various groups within society, including individuals, landlords, the clergy, Chiefs, Assembly members, and politicians, to come together and organize regular communal labor to desilt choked gutters.

Dr. Ayariga emphasized the need for collective responsibility in addressing the issue.

He highlighted the presence of plastics and other debris that obstruct the flow of water in gutters, leading to devastating consequences during heavy rains by organizing communal labor every two weeks, these obstructions can be removed, reducing the risk of flooding and loss of lives.

In his continued efforts to address the issue of flooding and promote a cleaner environment, Dr. Hassan Ayariga urged the Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) to enforce existing bye-laws that prohibit littering on our streets.

Dr. Ayariga emphasized the need for collective responsibility in maintaining clean and litter-free surroundings.

He stressed that by strictly enforcing these bye-laws, MMDCEs can play a crucial role in ensuring that individuals take responsibility for their actions and refrain from littering the streets.

In his statement, Dr. Ayariga emphasized that the task of saving human lives should not solely fall on politicians. He highlighted the shared responsibility that each individual holds in building a better Ghana.
