Former President John Dramani Mahama is urging Africans in both the public and private sectors to take a stand against corruption.
Mr. Mahama emphasized that corruption is a destructive force that impedes economic progress and development.
He expressed concerns about the prevalence of corruption, attributing its persistence to the lack of responsibility among institutions and state actors responsible for combating it.
These remarks were made by the former president during his participation as the Special Guest at the 53rd Annual Conference of the Nigerian Institution of Surveyors and Valuers (NIESV).
He emphasized that combating corruption requires addressing issues such as discretionary power, economic rent, and establishing a robust legal system.
According to John Dramani Mahama, corruption deters investors from engaging in business and investing in a country, thereby hindering its growth and development.
