George Mireku Duker, the Member of Parliament for Tarkwa Nsuaem and Deputy Energy Minister, accompanied the Ghana Premier League champions, Medeama FC, to Parliament.
Their purpose was to present the trophy to the Right Honourable Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin and Members of Parliament.
During his address on the parliamentary floor, the MP took the opportunity to urge Ghanaians to rally behind Medeama FC as they gear up to represent the nation in the upcoming CAF championship.
Additionally, he expressed his gratitude to the team’s management for their outstanding performance.
Patrick Boamah, the Member of Parliament for Okaikoi Central, expressed his concerns regarding the underwhelming performance of traditional clubs such as Kotoko, Hearts, and RTU, among others.
He attributed their struggles to a lack of sponsorship and called upon corporate institutions and other entities to invest in sports.
Boamah emphasized that government alone cannot shoulder the entire burden of investment in sports.
Sarah Adjoa Sarfo, the Member of Parliament for Dome Kwabenya, urged parents to support and encourage their children in developing their talents.
She emphasized that children should not be hindered from enhancing their potential and pursuing their passions.
The Right Honourable Speaker, Aban Bagbin, made a commitment to provide a financial support of 100,000 cedis to aid the team in their preparations for the CAF championship.
