The Nkawie District Forest Services Division Manager, Chrisantus Nifaasoyir, says substantial investments have been made by both the government and private developers in the forest reserves.

These investments have resulted in significant benefits for the country in terms of exportation.

Speaking to the media in Nkawie after assessing the progress of the Greening Ghana project, Mr. Chrisantus Nifaasoyir emphasized that the government cannot tackle the task alone. He called for collaboration among all stakeholders involved.

Additionally, he highlighted the importance of avoiding all forms of illegal activities, such as galamsey (illegal mining), chainsaw operations, bush fires, and charcoal production. These activities, according to him, have detrimental effects on the forest reserves and should be strictly avoided.

Mr. Nifaasoyir expressed his heartfelt appreciation to his dedicated staff and all stakeholders for their valuable contributions to the successful implementation of the Greening Ghana project.

He acknowledged that the project had exceeded its initial target of planting 400,000 trees set by the Forestry Commission, reaching an impressive milestone of 500,000 trees. In light of this achievement, he stressed the importance of efficient and effective monitoring and supervision of the planted trees.

Moving forward, Mr. Chrisantus Nifaasoyir extended his gratitude to the Government and Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources for their invaluable support in the Greening Ghana project. He acknowledged that this initiative has revitalized and added value to existing plantation projects.

Mr. Nifaasoyir expressed optimism that Ghana is on the path to restoring its forest vegetation with the unwavering determination of the Forestry Commission. Through the Greening Ghana project and ongoing efforts, the Commission aims to achieve this significant environmental milestone.
