The Executive Secretary of National Identification Authority (NIA) Professor Kenneth Attafuah, says over 861,000 backlog of printed Ghana cards since 2022 and 2023 are yet to be collected by applicants all over the country.
According to the Executive Secretary of the National Identification Authority (NIA), Professor Kenneth Attafuah, the backlog of uncollected Ghana cards primarily consists of cards for individuals who registered during the mop-up and mass registration exercises conducted in 2019 and 2020.
During these registration exercises, according to him, the NIA aimed to provide an opportunity for those who had not yet registered to obtain their Ghana cards, however, despite the successful printing of these cards, a significant number of applicants have not yet collected them.
He stressed that despite the various announcements made to draw their attention, a significant number of individuals, particularly those residing in distant and remote communities, have not yet contacted the NIA office to collect their Ghana cards.
Professor Kenneth Attafuah expressed concern about this issue, as it prevents individuals from fully benefiting from the advantages and services provided by the Ghana card.
To facilitate the collection of the backlog of Ghana cards, the Executive Secretary of the National Identification Authority (NIA), Professor Kenneth Attafuah is calling on all Ghanaians who are yet to receive their cards to visit their respective district offices.
According to him, the NIA has set up dedicated collection centers in each district to ensure a smooth and efficient process.
