According to Professor Attafuah, the 1951 Refugee Convention, to which Ghana is a signatory, establishes the legal framework for protecting the rights of refugees and ensuring their well-being. This includes granting them access to asylum, providing basic services, ensuring their safety, and promoting their integration into society.
During the World Refugee Day event held in Accra, Professor Kenneth Agyemang Attafuah, Chairman of the Ghana Refugee Board, emphasized the importance of collaboration among key institutions involved in managing refugees.
The event, held under the theme “Hope Away from Home,” aimed to raise awareness about the challenges faced by asylum seekers and refugees and to highlight the need for their rights and the security of the state to be protected.
