A sod-cutting ceremony was recently held to mark the commencement of construction on an ultra-modern market complex in Ahenkro, located in the Afigya Kwabere North District of the Ashanti Region.

During the colorful ceremony held on Monday, June 19th, 2023, in Ahenkro, the plans and features of the three-storey market building were unveiled.

Once completed, the market complex will house a range of facilities to cater to the needs of vendors, customers, and the community at large.

The market complex will consist of lockable stores and stalls, providing secure spaces for traders to conduct their businesses. Additionally, the inclusion of toilet facilities and washrooms emphasizes the importance of sanitation and hygiene within the marketplace, ensuring a clean and comfortable environment for all users.

In his address to the people, Nana Ahenkro Sei-Poku IV, the Chief of Ahenkro, expressed his satisfaction and fulfillment in witnessing the commencement of the market construction project.

“The completion of the market marks my enstoolment as the chief by Asantehene who admonished me to develop the community and it also fulfils my heart desire,” he said.

Mr. Gabriel Enyan, the contractor of the market project from Jometo Enterprise Limited, made a heartfelt appeal to the residents of the community to refrain from stealing building materials from the construction site.
