Prempeh College in Kumasi, located in the Ashanti region of Ghana, has recently bestowed a great honor upon former President John Agyekum Kufuor and the Minister of Energy, Hon. Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh.
The school has named an assembly hall and a dormitory after these distinguished individuals as a tribute to their significant contributions and achievements.
The management of Prempeh College, led by the Interim Management Committee (IMC), has officially announced that the newly constructed assembly hall will be named the ‘J. A. Kufuor Auditorium’ in honor of former President John Agyekum Kufuor. Additionally, ‘House 11’, one of the dormitories within the school, will now be known as ‘Matthew Opoku Prempeh House’ in recognition of the contributions of Hon. Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh.
It is indeed a momentous occasion that the dedication and naming ceremony at Prempeh College was graced by the presence of esteemed personalities who are former students of the prestigious institution. The ceremony, held on Saturday, June 17, 2023, took place at the college campus located at Sofoline in Kumasi, Ashanti Region.
Senior Benjamin Acolaste, an old student of Prempeh College, had the honor of chairing the ceremony. His presence and involvement added a sense of significance and nostalgia to the event, as he shared a common bond with the former President John Agyekum Kufuor and Hon. Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, who were being honored.
During his keynote address, Nana Dr. Awuah Abedimisa II, the board chairperson of the Interim Management Committee (IMC), expressed gratitude for the immense contributions made by the two prominent personalities of Prempeh College.
