Stonebwoy, through the Stonebwoy Livingstone Foundation, has commissioned four mechanized boreholes to provide potable water for communities along the coast of the River Pra in the Shama district of the Western Region in Ghana.
The intervention came in response to the communities’ plea for assistance as their only water source had been polluted by illegal mining activities (galamsey). The four farming communities benefiting from the project are Beposo Nkran, Daboase junction, Borkor Awukukope, and Antseambua.
Community leaders expressed their gratitude and highlighted the various ways in which the project would positively impact their lives, particularly the school children who had to walk long distances to fetch water before going to school.
Stonebwoy, who was shocked by the state of the water bodies, particularly the River Pra, which serves as the main source of drinking water for these communities, spoke to the media about the importance of addressing water pollution and ensuring access to clean water for all.
The community members and teachers who have been transferred to the area also expressed their profound gratitude to Stonebwoy and his wife for their kind gesture.
This initiative by Stonebwoy and the Stonebwoy Livingstone Foundation is commendable as it addresses a critical need for clean water in these communities and positively impacts the lives of the residents, particularly the children and the local schools.
