Reports indicate that the assault on the woman was purportedly carried out in retaliation for the killing of a resident in Binaba, located in the Upper East Region, allegedly by nomadic herdsmen.

An eyewitness provided an account of the incident in an interview, stating, “This particular video was recorded in a community called Kupelga, which is near Binaba, in the Upper East Region. The information we have is that on the 30th of last month, a young man was killed in the Binaba community.”

“The community members accused the Fulani herders in the area of being responsible for the death, leading to a large-scale attack on the Fulani herders. The attack on the Fulani herders took place in Binaba, Kupelga, and Zebilla.”

“The day after the attack, which was on the 1st of June, this woman was returning from the market to the Kupelga community when she was assaulted and mistreated by the residents of the Kupelga community,” the eyewitness explained.

The Police have announced their collaboration with the victim’s family to provide her with psychological and emotional support.
