The Office of the Special Prosecutor has issued a warrant for the arrest of Charles Bissue, the former Secretary to the Inter-Ministerial Committee on Illegal Mining (IMCIM).
This action has been taken due to Mr. Bissue’s failure to respond to an invitation from the Special Prosecutor, requesting his presence for questioning in relation to an ongoing investigation into suspected corruption within the dissolved IMCIM.
Recently, Mr. Bissue filed a lawsuit at the High Court in Accra in an attempt to prevent the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) from prosecuting him. This legal action was in response to the ongoing investigation led by the Special Prosecutor regarding alleged corruption involving Prof. Kwabena Frimpong Boateng, the Chairman of the IMCIM.
In his lawsuit, Mr. Bissue disclosed that he had received a letter from the Office of the Special Prosecutor, designating him as a necessary individual for the investigation and requesting his attendance for an interview.
Mr. Bissue’s non-compliance with the invitation from the Office of the Special Prosecutor is regarded as a substantial obstacle to the progress of the investigation, leading to his declaration as a wanted individual.
