Do your work as required of you- President, Justice For Humanity, Freedom, and Liberty For All

President of a non-governmental organization known as Justice For Humanity, Freedom, and Liberty For All, Meagan Seidu has expressed his displeasure regarding the disregard of the District Assembly to compensate those affected by the recent flood in the Kenyasi Market.

This statement was made in a letter which was directed to the District Chief Executive of Ahafo-Kenyasi in the Asutifi North District, Hon. Anthony Adjei Mensah.

According to the notice, “in 2022, the Ministry of Works and Housing put the MDAs in charge of enforcing by-laws in order to prevent flooding,” however, it is their belief that the office of the DCE has blatantly ignored these direct orders.

“Not only has no prevention been put in place, but no attempt at clean up or compensation for
those affected by recent floods has been made,” the notice added.

This inaction, according to the notice, is a direct abuse against the basic human rights and needs of the people of Kenyasi, and the lack of initiative from the office of the DCE to even attempt to clean up after said floods, is also a major health risk to the citizens, as stagnant water is a breeding ground for disease and insect infestation all of which will impact the health of the citizens.

“The market workers have their livelihoods put on hold and are unable to earn a living to
support themselves or their families, in this current economic climate, it is highly irresponsible
of your office to allow this to continue without action, or prevention,” the notice emphasized.

The notice stressed that there are videos circulating on social media and these videos have reached beyond the borders of Ghana and is fast becoming noticed globally.

The notice urged the DCE of Ahafo-Kenyasi in the Asutifi North District, Hon. Anthony Adjei Mensah to do his work as required of him and to put to course an action plan to help the citizens of Kenyasi regain their marketplace in conditions that are both safe and hygienic.
