This exercise has forced Ghanaians to form queues to register their sims- Ursula Owusu-Ekuful

The Minister of Communications and Digitalization, Ursula Owusu-Ekuful has announced that there are people who have their Ghana Cards yet, they have refused to register their sim cards.

Providing an update on the status of Sim cards re-registration exercise in Parliament today, Thursday, June 8, 2023, she said that “this demonstrates that even if there have been an extension of the deadline, we would still have had people who would simply not have registered their sims.”

She emphasized that public announcements were not able to push Ghanaians to register their sims however, this exercise has even forced them to form queues to register.

This, according to her, is one characteristic of Ghanaians as they should be pushed to act accordingly and to know the Mobile Network Operators are serious about this exercise.

“Some people who also use the lack of a Ghana Card as an excuse not to register are now finding means of acquiring the Ghana Cards or have reached out to the NCA as they had earlier been directed to do to reinstate their sims and await their Ghana Cards,” she stressed.

She is, therefore, urging all Ghanaians who have challenges acquiring their Ghana Cards to complete their sim registration to contact the National Communications Authority (NCA) with evidence of applying for the card.

Ursula Owusu-Ekuful also encouraged the NIA to assist people to acquire their Ghana Card to enable them re-register their sims.
