Residents of Daboya have stated emphatically that the Vice President of Ghana, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has been the one fuelling the Mamprusi to continue fighting for their land.

These two  statements were made after the police invaded the town, arresting over 180 locals of Daboya.

The residents stated that they do not have any problem with the Mamprusi occupying their land however, they have a problem with the Mamprusi claiming ownership of the land.

They emphasized that the Mamprusi can claim the land because “they have the powerful Vice President who is always behind them.”

“We do not have any powerful person who is behind us. Our incantations have been the ones helping us to fight for our land,” they added.

They stressed that Vice President Dr. Bawumia is a Mamprusi thus, he has been fuelling them to insult their chiefs and call the Gonja names.

“Why do we deserve this? This is a conflict between two tribes yet one tribe is being affected. Is Gonjas not part of Ghanaians? they lamented.

“We will not sell our land to Dr. Bawumia. We are proud to be Gonjas and we are sounding a warning to the Mamprusi and the police to release our people else we will strike,” they said.
