Amansie South District: Girl-Child Coordinator Cry Over School Drop Out Among Girls Due To High Rate Of Poverty

The Girl-child Coordinator of Amansie South District, Madam Victoria Owusu Botah has expressed her displeasure about the high rate of cases of school drop-outs in the area due to poor living conditions of the people in the community.

According to her, a lot of parents are not able to afford the physical needs of their children, especially the girls and this has brought about the negative impact on girl-child education hence, the increase in teenage pregnancy cases.

Speaking to the media at the celebration of World Menstrual Day organized by the District Education Office in collaboration with the office of the Member of Parliament in the area under the theme, Mad. Victoria Owusu Botah reveals that menstruation is a normal fact of life, however, most of them are forced to stop school because they are unable to afford sanitary pads.

Mad. Victoria Ofori Botah emphasized that this situation has become a great concern to her this, she is using this medium to appeal to the president to provide sanitary pads to all ladies in various educational levels to prevent school the increase of cases of school drop-out amongst girls.

Speaking also, the Manso Adubia Constituency Organizer in the ticket of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) who represented the Member of Parliament, Hon. Yaw Frimpong Addo commended the organizers of the program for such a great initiative.

He added that women play a very significant role in the development of every country and for that matter, the Member of Parliament will continue to work hard to ensure girls are been empowered in the area.

He said that bringing up a girl contributes to building the nation hence, there is a need to support them to become usable in the country.
