Sixteen Passengers have died at a spot whiles over twenty-five people are in critical condition in an accident in Gomoa Okyereko in the Gomoa West District of the Central Region on the Kasoa-Winneba Highway.

A report gathered by Otech FM revealed that the accident involved two vehicles, that is, a Youtong bus with the registration number GT 5866-L and a Fuel Tanker, with registration number WR 2063-10.

The Youtong bus was coming from Cote D’Ivoire to Accra with all passengers being Ivorians

The Fuel tanker is believed to be from Goodness Energy.

According to an eyewitness, the driver of the Youtong bus was sleeping, and upon reaching Gomoa Okyereko, he seemed off from his lane into another lane hence, leading to the crashing of the Fuel Tanker.

Sixteen Passengers in the Youtong bus died at the spot leaving over 25 in critical condition.

The accident happened on Tuesday, May 30, 2023, at dawn around 4:30 AM.

Meanwhile, the Winneba Fire Service Commander, DO1 Kwesi Hughes indicated that although they can’t pronounce the cause of death, many have died and were injured.

The body of all sixteen deceased has been deposited at the Winneba Specialist and Trauma Hospital Mortuary for autopsy and preservation.

Whiles the over twenty-five people who are critically injured, are also receiving treatment at the same hospital.
