A 13-year-old Junior High School (JHS) two pupil of Agona Swedru Methodist B. Basic School named Godfred Ankomah has met his untimely death after his class teacher allegedly caned him.
Speaking to Otech FM, the mother of the deceased, Beatrice Whyte revealed that, the teacher, who is called Madam Millicent, gave her son six strong lashes after he failed to score higher marks in a class exercise.
Beatrice Whyte indicates that the teacher allegedly hit her son’s spinal cord with leashes leading to his death.
The mother said that her son started complaining about spinal cord pains amidst vomiting blood.
She emphasized that upon asking him what the problem was, her son pointed out that her female teacher lashed him severely.
Beatrice Whyte also declared that her son, who is now deceased was pressuring her to go to the school and ask the teacher the reason for this act.
She added that she went to the school and asked the school authorities, and they confirmed but pledged to bear the responsibility for the action.
On Thursday, May 25, 2023, in the evening, the deceased vomited blood at the hospital, which, however, led to his untimely death.
Meanwhile, the body of the deceased has been deposited at the Agona Swedru Government Hospital Mortuary for autopsy and preservation.
Meanwhile, all attempts to get the school authorities to speak on the matter proved futile as they are not ready to talk to the media.
The case has been reported to the Agona Swedru Police Station for investigation.
