The Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, Samuel Abu Jinapor has declared the government’s commitment to ensuring that the staff of the Forestry Commission has the necessary equipment to fight illegal mining in forest reserves.
Speaking at the commissioning of a new office for the Forestry Commission in the Eastern Region, he emphasized the need to protect the forest in the country so that the country will be free from illegal mining.
Samuel Abu Jinapor mentioned that the government is working to provide the Forestry Commission with bulletproof vests and some weapons to deal with galamseyers that are destroying the forest reserves in the country.
He is, therefore, encouraging the Forestry Commission to continue its fight against galamsey and that the government will continue to support them in any way.
