The 2022 National Best Cocoa Farmer, who doubles as the Chairman of Sefwi Asafo Abuburo Kosua Cooperative Cocoa Farmers and Marketing Society Limited, Bismark Fuachie has declared that the youth in cocoa production is ready and willing to campaign and support Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia to win the 2024 general elections if he is elected as flagbearer.

He said this during a press conference which was held in Sefwi Wiawso.

Mr. Bismark Fuachie said that in 2015 and 2016, cocoa production was very low but when the New Patriotic Party (NPP) came into power in 2016, there has been a massive improvement in the cocoa sector as the government, in partnership with COCOBOD brought an initiative to replant all the affected cocoa farms.

According to the 2022 Best National Cocoa Farmer, ever since the government cut down all affected cocoa trees in the district, the government supplied and replanted free plantain suckers, and helped to employ people to work on the farm for 2 years, before handing them over to farmers.

He said that this initiative is very good because a farmer in the district can harvest about 15 acres of plantain to sell to make money.

Mr. Bismark Fuachie has also appealed to the government to provide farmers with sufficient agrochemicals, external pruning, and irrigation system for their farms to support them financially to venture into fish and poultry farming.

He also appealed to the government, COCOBOD, chiefs, stakeholders, and all individuals to critically tackle the issue of illegal mining (galamsey) because it is destroying all farmlands and Ghana at large.
