Deputy Minister of Gender, Children, and Social Protection, Hon. Francisca Oteng Mensah says understanding the use of technology and its role in families has reduced the rate of family problems.
She mentioned this during a town hall meeting today to commemorate International Family Day which was themed, “Families and New Technologies” at Teshie in Accra.
In a keynote address, she emphasized that technology has brought about social and economic benefits to families, created new jobs, and engage in online businesses, giving parents enough time to spend with their families.
Hon. Francisca Oteng Mensah stressed that the government is ensuring the promotion of technology in Ghana by securing Ghana at the top list of countries that are industrialized in the world by bringing initiatives such as the digitalization of NHIS and Ghana Card, and African-digital ecosystem, amongst others.
She noted that aside from providing social and economic benefits to families, technology has also acted as a huge communication medium for families to stay in touch.
