Dep. Min for Health emphasizes government’s commitment to partner pharmaceutical industries to achieve universal health coverage

Deputy Minister of Health, Alhaji Mahama Asei Seini has emphasized government’s commitment to partner pharmaceutical industries to achieve universal health coverage.

According to him, to ensure that all people living in Ghana enjoy healthy lives, Ghana was the first country in the Sub-Saharan to introduce the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) in 2003 as part of its commitment to achieving universal health coverage in 2030.

The Deputy Minister, who was speaking at the opening ceremony of the West Africa Pharma and Healthcare Exhibition in Accra, stated that the Pharmaceutical industries play a vital role in achieving universal health coverage.

West Africa Pharma Healthcare Expo is an International Medical Pharmaceutical and Healthcare Industry Trade Fair in Ghana.

The event brought together manufacturers, wholesalers, dealers, and distributors of the medical diagnostic pharmaceutical industry, hospitals, and influential decision-makers in West Africa, in Ghana.

The Deputy Minister, who doubles as the MP for Daboya/Mankarigu Constituency added that the Ministry of Health is happy to associate itself with the objectives and mission of this conference which is aimed at building a resilient healthcare system in the West Africa Sub-region using modern healthcare technology and collaborative partnership.
