The six people who were arrested for allegedly murdering a military officer called Sherif Imoro at Ashaiman Taifa have been discharged today following a court order by the presiding judge, Simon Gaga at the Ashaiman District Court.
According to the lawyer for the suspects, Abdul Fatawu Alhassan, the last three suspects were charged with dishonesty and deceit and as such, the council was about to fight for their bail, however, upon reaching the court premises, he was told that the prosecutors have dropped all charges leveled against his clients.
He, therefore, stated that all suspects are now free citizens since as far as the 1992 Constitution is concerned, Article 88 and Act 30 give the Attorney General the power to institute criminal charges as well as to withdraw them.
