Ashanti Regional Minister, Simon Osei-Mensah wishes for a closedown of the New Kejetia Market for 3 days until a thorough assessment of Wednesday evening’s fire incident is accomplished.
Speaking to journalists after visiting the scene, Mr. Simon Osei-Menbsah denoted that about 50 shops were affected as most items in them were damaged.
He also appealed that a committee needs to be set up to investigate the events which led to the escalations of the fire outbreak.
Mr. Simon Osei-Mensah seeks answers from the committee which will be set up to explain why the smoke detectors did not sound an alarm and why the sprinkler did not switch on automatically when the fire started.
However, the PRO of the Ghana National Fire Service in the Ashanti region, ACFO Henry Giwah says investigations are still in session and they will not rest until they find the causes of the fire outbreak.
