Former Chief Justice, Sophia Akuffo, has asked the government to invest funds set aside for the Independence Day celebrations on meaningful projects that will benefit Ghanaians.
According to her, there is no point wasting resources on independence day celebrations when the government is struggling to rescue an already wrecked economy.
The Independence Day Celebration will be coming off on Monday, 6th March, 2023 in the capital of the Volta region, Ho, while other regions will also host their respective durbar to mark the day.
Speaking on the sidelines of a public lecture organized by the University of Ghana on the country’s 66th Independence, the former Chief Justice indicated that, “although it is good to mark the occasion, infrastructure projects and other investments would have better served Ghanaians.”
